Difficult conversations

training bundle

A learning bundle to support advance care planning and difficult conversations in paediatric palliative care.

Introduction

In 2018 and 2019 funding from welsh government enabled the All Wales paediatric palliative care network to deliver training to hundreds of health care staff on difficult conversations and paediatric advance care planning. This resource aims to help you continue delivering similar training in your work place by making the resources used in those sessions freely available.

We’ve provided the materials that were used in the teaching events across Wales. We are happy for you to use these in whichever way suits your setting best. Examples might include

  • A full day of teaching

  • half hour discussion in team meetings on one aspect of communication

  • a teaching session for junior doctors on what a PAC plan is

  • inclusion in mandatory training

Please do let us know how you have used these materials, what works and any further support you need.

Course handbook

This Course Handbook has been designed to accompany a series of workshops across Wales entitled ‘Difficult Conversations at the End of Life for Children’.  The Handbook is structured in the same way as the workshops, with half focusing on communication skills and the other half on how to use the Paediatric Advance Care Planning tool (PAC-Plan).
